Team Assistant Policy

The league welcomes additional support from parents and community members in roles such as dugout manager, hitting consultant, base coach, or bench coach.

A Team Assistant is defined as any individual consistently assisting a team throughout the season — at games and/or practices on a regular basis. A Team Assistant is considered a consistent volunteer and is required to complete a background check prior to participation. Team Assistants include parents who help coach their child's team on a recurring weekly basis and maintain an ongoing role with direct and repeated access to players. A Substitute Assistant is defined as any parent or community member who serves in a limited substitute capacity — filling in for no more than one to two games during the season without a recurring role.

Substitute Assistants are not subject to the background check requirement. These individuals are considered occasional participants rather than consistent volunteers and do not hold a standing position on the coaching staff. Anyone whose involvement expands beyond a Substitute Assistant threshold at any point during the season will be required to complete a background check before continuing in that capacity.

Team Assistants are subject to the following restrictions:

• Must be 16 years or older.

• Only the Head Coach and Assistant Coach are authorized to communicate with umpires and scorekeepers during games.

 • All Team Assistants are held to the same sportsmanship standards as official coaches and are expected to always serve as positive role models for players.
