League history

Our league was founded in the early 1970's by a group of men who wanted to provide a safe place for the teens of our community. Their purpose was to give Sabbath-keeping youth a place to gather and enjoy sports. This unique aspect still separates us from other programs in the area.

In 1984, divisions were added for middle school-aged children. Since then, the league has continued to expand, now including children ages 3 years old to seniors in high school.

Most of our volunteers, as well as many of the fans in our stands, grew up playing in this league, and many of them also had parents (and grandparents!) that have played and volunteered for the league in the past in some capacity. It's a tradition that we love! And, we are grateful for all of you who have helped build it to what it is today.  There's nothing like our community!

Collegedale Recreation Association's (CRA) mission is to teach our youth teamwork, sportsmanship, and commitment while providing a safe environment to grow their love of softball into and through adulthood.

CRA's philosophy leads us to provide a Christian community softball program aimed at educating our youth on the basic skills and rules of softball. The CRA’s primary interest is the development of each player, including improvement in technical skills and increased knowledge of the game, as well as, personal and social growth as a team member.

Our goal is to encourage sportsmanship within a competitive environment encompassed in a Christ-centered atmosphere. This understanding is a top priority for parents, players, and coaches. All participants and spectators are encouraged to conduct themselves in a manner that enables a healthy team environment both on and off the field. 

Our network of volunteers are background checked before working with players. We welcome new families, coaches, or community members to become involved with CRA by signing up as a player, volunteer, or sponsor. It’s an experience that connects generations. With every season, we continue to grow stronger, inspire new talent, and create lasting memories for our community. Come be a part of it!
